Our story

From little things, big things grow

Isn’t it amazing how one small, serendipitous moment can change everything?

Sixteen years ago – with newborn twins in our arms – I was trying to continue my love of all things creative, including jewellery making. My amazing teacher introduced me to a new medium – fingerprint jewellery.

It was something we’d never seen before and a little spark was born.

With a plan to move back to my husband’s birth country, we needed to be able to support our little family. We learnt everything we could about the medium, including an intensive course learning how to make our own fingerprint jewellery. While I had been creative most of my life, this was something entirely new for me.

A form of jewellery that wasn’t just beautiful, but also unique and meaningful.

I started by making keepsake fingerprint and handprint jewellery for babies, kids, and adults. The rest of the business grew organically as I added keepsake pawprints, then started to do memorial pawprint jewellery, where the business really took off.

Then sadly, tragedy stuck. A dear family friend committed suicide.

I created handprint charms for his dad and other family members as a way to remember and keep their loved one close. They loved the charms.

And this gave me an idea – maybe others would love this kind of personalised jewellery too?

From there, the memorial fingerprint and handprint side of the business was born. This is a very special part of the business and I take great pride and joy in helping people keep their departed loved ones close.

Today, our purpose remains the same – to help you celebrate life and honour loss with quality handcrafted jewellery.

It’s an honour to support you on life’s journey by capturing a little piece of your loved one to treasure, forever.

Handcrafted from start to finish

Let’s be honest, personalised jewellery isn’t a new thing anymore. Today, there are lots of businesses making it. So, what sets ours apart? Well, the fact that it’s 100% handcrafted with love. Our founder, Nikki, still makes every single piece from start to finish. Yes, every piece! No laser cutting, no mass production. With Pure Silver Impressions, you get a beautifully handcrafted piece made personally just for you.

Taking prints

When it comes to taking prints, there are a few ways we do it:

More often than not, we use photos for convenience. Simply take a photo and send it to us.

Alternatively, we can use an inkless print collection kit or moulding compound.

For fingerprint jewellery – depending on your location – we can take a print directly into the silver for an extra personal touch.

The creation process

Once we have the print, we go through an intensive hand creation process:

We clean it up in Photoshop – ensuring no smudges, fur etc – resulting in a crisp black and white print that captures all the little lines and beautiful details.

We print it onto a special state of the art plate.

The plate gets printed into pure soft silver, leaving an impression.

The silver goes into a kiln for firing and comes out solid.

We darken the inside of the print and lettering by hand, giving the piece a beautiful patina.

We put it in a tumbler for polishing, then give it a final clean.

Your item is packaged with care and sent to you to be treasured for a lifetime.

Creating our handcrafted jewellery really is a labour of love, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We, hand-on-heart, believe that’s what makes it so special.
